Cruise Control: Chanel Resort 2008

Location: Santa Monica Airport

Lagerfield did a 70s spin while installing the same elegance Chanel gives every season. Resort is always more playful and lighter than the Fall Collection but the color palette is never too far off from the season prior. I love the periwinkle and red combination; and it looks like minis, high-waisted pants, long dresses and headbands (a few of this springs standouts) are here to stay! Frankly- I couldn't be more happy about it, as those shapes have been so influential in fashion history.

Olsen's "The Row" Look book.

You can shop barneys.com or if you live in LA, Maxfield. I love their classic- simple- always sexy effect to everything they touch!

So, what do you think? Have they come a long way from their Walmart lines?

Indie girl style, Jenny Lewis

Indie Fashion girl of the moment, Jenny Lewis is:

"Jenny Lewis is a singer and a songwriter from Los Angeles, California. She’s got hair the color of a Pacific sunset, a voice as sweet as an ice cream cone, and a wit sharper than a razorblade"

Look out for her in the near future- as she will be one to style copy soon. I just love her sweet & smart look.

Watch out for... United Bamboo

Taking over the casual chic market that is booming in NYC, United Bamboo declares itself as the "indie" brand that wants to dress those who know how to dress. You can find this line at the oh-so-cool-that half of the cool people haven't heard of it boutique- Opening Ceremony. (More info on this boutique later)

Zac Posen(who's student work is also featured in the permanent collection!!)rules the contemporary market with his flirty and sexy women's ready to wear, as well as just launched a handbag and shoe collection, and honored by Saks Fifth Avenue (see post in archives)

Behnaz Sarafpour most famously launched a holiday collection for Target. Known for her downtown aesthetic with a polished finishing touch.

Costello Tagliapietra gets inspiration from the late great Halston

So if you live in London or are traveling this summer, go see this show! Should be a good one. Try and see the fashion and textiles museum near Borough Market.

Can new fresh designers help fix the Gap?

Gap has announced a limited edition "white shirt" line to be launched April 17Th by three hot young designers: Doo-Ri, Rodarte and Thakoon. After disappointing sales over the holidays and two failed promotions since, is this just the right buzz to get sales going over at the Gap?

Each designer has taken their own approach on the basic white button down blouse. To get a feel for what the aesthetics of these designers are, here some examples:

Repetto!

I am sure you have seen their ballet flats in a few botiques around the US, but this French shoe brand is pushing their line torwards the fashion savvy with heels and boots despite their dance shoe roots. (Yes, Im so excited I even rhyme now!)

The good news for us is, they really know how to make a comfortable shoe! The leather is suple, and the sole has a grip so falling is less likely!

You can buy them now at upscale and downtown cool department store Liberty London.
