What the Fringe?

Just as we were getting excited about the modern direction fashion was going, pieces reminicent to the boho trend (ya, remember that one?) have been poping up everywhere! Now, not to fret- this look can actually come off cool and chic. Maybe.

Prada Spring 2007

Okay, I know Miuccia Prada has been taking some extra doses of whatever high medicine she's on- but seriously? Head to toe Fringe? I dare someone to wear that down the street- and not get laughed at. Seriously.

Maybe we should look at just the accessories:

And, the bag that Ms. Zoe says is the "it bag of the season"-

What do you think of this trend?

Orange you glad we have a new color for fall?

For Fall 2007 we are seeing our favorite designers breaking all sorts of previous dressing rules. One is, combining orange and black for fear of looking like Halloween all year long. I think the two colors pair nicely and end up looking modern and put together. Below are some of our beloved prophetic designers showing their new stuff for fall.

Bottega Veneta

Chloe

Gucci

So, are you still afraid of mixing the two? Will this look take off in the Fall?

Natural Comfort: Not just for Granny's anymore

These shoes are super cute! I saw this line revamp last fall in special LA boutiques as well as in Steve Madden stores- but it seemed the styles were just for indie girls. For spring, there are more styles for every type of shoe lover! I personally have the ankle strap flats (shown in turquoise) and they are so comfortable. Great for in city walking or a night out.

What do you think? Are these worth a try?

What???

So, this is generally a positive environment for fashion- I do like to see people trying new things and showing their personal style because that what this amazing art is for.

Having said that, what on earth was Posh thinking? Why would someone dare to wear a corseted leotard and stripper heels to a FASHION magazine awards ceremony?

What do you guys think? Has Victoria Beckham gone mad?

I hope she was taking notes while at the show, as fellow winner Sienna Miller looked ever so chic.

Best Fashion Quote of the Week

"Great fashion is such a complicated stew filled with so many diverse ingredients and can come in many forms--from luxurious to humble, subtle to loud, simple to complicated, serious to witty, optimistic to pessimistic, sublime to ridiculous, even pristine to over-the-top. What I love most of all is that, in the end, when all these great fashion viewpoints are thrown together into a seasonal banquet, they ultimately reflect not only the direction of fashion's future but also this very moment in our society"

The shoe guy: Tristan Blair

Brand new shoe designer Tristan Blair has got a niche already made for him. His stunning fashion forward shoes make every girl interested in fashion drool. Quirky, edgy, and totally city chic. Metalic, encrusted, high, flat, lace up, tie up; he makes them all. Unfortunately, his shoes are only available in Australia, but I am sure they are going to make their way over.

For now, head over to Tristanblair.com for some eye candy.

Kate Hurst: Diamond Life

Australia has progressively become a country of fantastic designers. Some of their names top list of in demand fashion designers these days- with Akira Isogawa, Peter Alexander, Rivers, Zimmerman, Collette Dinnigan, Nicola Finetti, Prue Acton,Ksubi, and Saba making their way into mainstream boutiques and department stores.

One Australian designer sticks out particularly for her sense of volume, youthfulness and color: Kate Hurst

Here is some of her spring RTW 2007:
